Part-Time
Reports to: Library Director

The Louise Adelia Read Memorial Library in Hancock, NY, serves as a community hub for learning, culture, and connection in a town of 2,500 residents nestled in the Catskill Mountains. The library promotes literacy, access to information, and lifelong learning for all ages.
Position Summary
Library Assistant duties include shelving, running the check-out desk, helping patrons with the computer and copier, and answering the phone. We are hiring as soon as possible.

Responsibilities
Shelve books daily.
Interact with patrons in a helpful and friendly manner.
Assist patrons in finding books/media.
Cover books with protective coverings.
Create book displays and decorations.
Straighten and organize books and media.
Bag books for Inter-Library Loan pickup.
Count library bank nightly.
Read shelves for books out of place.
Weed collection as needed.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree preferred.
Library experience preferred.
Strong communication, organization, and technology skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Works well with children.
Able to do simple research.
Commitment to community service and teamwork.
Compensation
$18/hr.
Paid sick time (1 hour per every 30 hours worked).
Hours
4:30pm-7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays 12pm-4pm on Saturdays
